Everything I read about ICE is abhorrent and a constant reminder that a Constitution is no protection against authoritarianism.
What used to mesmerize me was the absence of response from the Americans. A few bullets later, I get it better.
What frightens me most? That I would feel reassured if POTUS was to remove Bovino and reduce ICE in Minneapolis. Because, while important, this is nothing compared to everything else that is happening in the US. Starting with friends and family. With bribery as a modus operandi.
President Macron with his Top Gun stance was good. The message he delivers is that Europe must be strong and start its path towards autonomy, defense-wise.
Back to the US, there are a few moments when I read about Americans who do not forget who they were. That includes this interesting article: https://www.cnn.com/2026/01/31/us/liam-ramos-judge-release-ice-detention
It is about US District Judge Fred Biery taking a position against ICE and opening to many other topics on how the US got there.
“That is called the fox guarding the henhouse. The Constitution requires an independent judicial officer.”
And the judge is definitely right. The fox is guarding the henhouse. Wake up !
