Social services, a portmanteau-word encompassing all public-operated services, are very different in France and in the US.

In France, hospital is a public service, cared for by the Society, a social service, and so it is free. Whereas in the US is is not.

My gut feeling is that success in the US can be measured by how much you never depend on any social service. But can I prove that? Can I crosstab revenue with social services usage?
